Savory sourdough French toast

Sourdough bread is very flavorful. 

In today's recipe, we are using it to make a delectable savory breakfast.

Prep time: 5 minutes (cook time: 5-10 minutes)
Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 slices of sourdough bread
  • 2 eggs 
  • A splash milk/cream/half-and-half
  • Salt
  • Butter or olive oil ,enough to generously grease the frying pan
  • Optional: a few small chunks of Mozzarella/cheddar 

Instructions:

  1. For a crispier texture, toast the sourdough slices.
  2. Melt butter/olive oil in frying pan.
  3. Break the sourdough slices into chunks and add into the pan.
  4. Add the eggs, milk, salt, and cheese. Stir well.
  5. Cook on medium heat till egg is well cooked and cheese is melted.

A note on flavor: As the name suggests, sourdough is sour. A French toast made with sourdough will taste different than ordinary French toast. Take this into account if serving to a person with no previous experience of sourdough.
