Sourdough bread is very flavorful.
In today's recipe, we are using it to make a delectable savory breakfast.
Prep time: 5 minutes (cook time: 5-10 minutes)
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 2-3 slices of sourdough bread
- 2 eggs
- A splash milk/cream/half-and-half
- Salt
- Butter or olive oil ,enough to generously grease the frying pan
- Optional: a few small chunks of Mozzarella/cheddar
Instructions:
- For a crispier texture, toast the sourdough slices.
- Melt butter/olive oil in frying pan.
- Break the sourdough slices into chunks and add into the pan.
- Add the eggs, milk, salt, and cheese. Stir well.
- Cook on medium heat till egg is well cooked and cheese is melted.
A note on flavor: As the name suggests, sourdough is sour. A French toast made with sourdough will taste different than ordinary French toast. Take this into account if serving to a person with no previous experience of sourdough.
